WELCOME TO THE
Designing microphysiological systems to answer biological questions
Research in the lab focuses on designing and applying 3D microphysiological systems ("organ-on-a-chip") to investigate features of extracellular matrix interactions and cell mechanobiology in normal and disease development.
Projects in the lab are focused in the fields of cancer metastasis and soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. We integrate cellular and molecular biology techniques, tissue engineering principles, animal models, novel biomaterials, genomic engineering techniques, and computational modeling to answer biological questions. Additionally, our projects are multi-disciplinary, and involve ongoing collaborations with biomedical engineers, as well as cancer biologists.

We are located in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.
